ASK (Asking Saves Kids) is a national public safety campaign developed by PAX, Inc., a national 501(c)(3) organization to bring new, effective solutions to the problem of gun violence in the United States. ASK is an innovative campaign that urges parents to ask a very simple question: “Is there a gun where my child plays?”
Founded in 1994, the Ceasefire Oregon Education Foundation (COEF), also a 501 (c)(3) organization, is dedicated to improving health and safety in the state of Oregon by promoting firearm safety education and injury prevention programs dedicated to reducing gun violence. COEF has partnered with the ASK Campaign to bring a life-saving message to parents in the Portland community.
Endorsed by Mayor Potter and Governor Kulongoski, the ASK Campaign involves building a coalition of community partners to make a commitment to increase knowledge and awareness of this issue, and encourages Portland parents to ask other parents about guns in the home.
